Reconceptualized Department of Defense Annual Mandatory Training

The Department of Defense (DoD) Annual Mandatory Training (AMT) Reconstruction project reconceives traditional “click-through-and-survive” compliance training as an immersive learning experience. It aims for pragmatic performance and learning.

Instead of rewarding passive completion, the redesign requires learners to actively engage. Learners must pay attention, interpret policy, make decisions under pressure, and justify their reasoning in realistic workplace scenarios and through consequence-based feedback.

I developed this using the ADDIE model. The module shifts AMT from checkbox compliance to demonstrated competence; because I truly and respectfully believe that if someone is trusted to make critical decisions, the training should expect more than a well-timed “next” button click.
